SYNCHRONIZING EFFORTS for domestic resource mobilisation

This side event took place on 30 November from 13:30-14:30 in Aberdares room, Kenyatta International Conference Centre, Nairobi, Kenya.

The event introduced the latest developments from the Addis Tax Initiative and featured a panel discussion on how to enhance co-operation on tax; the panel included Lilianne Ploumen (Dutch Minister of Foreign Trade and Development) and Winnie Byanyima (Executive Director of Oxfam).

The side event provided a brief update on the progress of the Addis Tax Initiative (ATI) and discussed effective development co-operation focusing on coordinated co-operation efforts in the field of Domestic Revenue Mobilisation (DRM). Short presentations introduced the new DRM database initiated by ATI which provided an overview of technical assistance projects carried out worldwide in the area of DRM as well as a practical guide for operationalising the OECD's "Principles for international engagement in supporting developing countries in revenue matters". The panel discussion and discussion with the audience elaborated on concrete recommendations to improve development partner coordination in the field of DRM by discussing best practices and opportunities for improvement.
